Why????????

Most buy them in hopes of flipping them for a profit.

Many do, but there are even more who are willing to give the gun a chance and buy a new one - knowing that if they dont like it they wont have any trouble getting their money back. Not so with a Taurus.

I have an xdm and I didn't buy it for the name. It held up to the same tests the Glocks go through for durability. I do not like the way Glocks feel so it was a very good alternative. I love mine and will not sell. Several hundred rounds through her and not a single trouble yet. Grip is great, accurate, high capacity, and durable. What else do you need?

It doesn't matter what compact pistol you are talking about, everyone has their preference for a certain feel. Because they are so compact and also big caliber, its going to work for some, not all.

Brand however in my opinion is a huge factor as well. I like a lot of Springfields, some dont (homos)

Simply put, If these guns didn't have the name Springfield Armory on them, same with the rest of their guns, they would likely never have made it in the market. Lots of people love them and are they bad, no, but if these same exact guns said Taurus on them, they would be made fun of and ridiculed by most. They are nothing special but are overrated because of a marketing campaign that makes people believe they are something they are not.
Sorry - could not disagree more. Every one I have owned and own is very high quality and ran flawlessly. They are every bit as good as a Glock (yeah, I said it). Sorry, but Glocks are nothing special. They are good guns, work great and are accurate. Same thing is true of the SA guns. The only thing special about a Glock over any other quality polymer gun is that they were the first on the market.

Actually HK was first, but who needs facts.

Also, why even bring Glock into the discussion, nobody said anything about Glock. The discussion was that Springfield Armory is a half rate importer selling half rate guns that wouldn't sell if it wasn't for Springfield's misleading ad campaign. A simple google search of the failed HS2000 shows this to be true.

They don't manufacture anything yet attempt to sell themselves as an iconic American firearms company.

XDs are made in Croatia
1911s are made in Brazil
M1s are made in Korea.

And the company Springfield Armory has nothing to do with THE Springfield Armory.
XD was a better pistol when it was HS2000. I remember when full-size HS2000 went for $250-$300. Current XD users are paying for Springfield marketing.

Let's not forget their CZ clones of 80's.

They are a gun company that has NEVER made their own gun. Always copied someone else...
