If you need to ask, then you probably shouldn't buy it. I wouldn't buy somethign that would cause a financial hardhip for the family and if it won't cause a financial hardship, I'd buy it if I wanted it. (Within reason) I'd get even buy buying her pink tickets and work on the shotgun later.
