Window vs. glass replacement.

We dropped some coin on all new replacement windows by Anderson Windows in 2016. At the time we were renovating our forever home. The home was built in the 60’s so they were single pane. The windows came with lifetime warranty. It helped immensely with sound and cold air around the openings. Since install…I’ve knocked out one pane ( lawn mower ) and one frame was damaged when the window cleaners shoved the sash back in the wrong way, and damaged one screen (lawn mower again). All were repaired / replaced at no charge. Can’t say enough good about them…
Used to sell Anderson…..they’re the Cadillac of windows 👍

I have a glass business in Jackson county. I grew up in the business also so I've pretty much seen it all. I can give you my best advice. I will need to see a few pictures though. Usually glass only replacement is around 250 dollars per window. Full window replacement is quite a bit more depending on the style and accessibility.
Do you work the Eatonton area? Lake Sinclair.
The tag in the window is Hallman Wood Products. Local building supplier.

No, I don't know any glass contractors in that area unfortunately. It shouldn't be too hard to find a competent glass company in your local area. You are welcome to reach out to me and get my advice on any quotes you receive.

I’m going to swing by Hallmans one day this week and go from there.
Thanks for the help.

1), 80% of your heating and cooling cost is lost through your ceilings.2) 80% of the rest is through the windows and doors. 8% through the walls. If you have crossed #1 off the list then move on to #2. If they are standard sizes Google sash replacements. Pull the sash trim, save most of it , new tracks and argon filled low E windows for a 3rd of the cost. My wife could do it. Struggle is finding a sales person to sell them at builder cost.

If non traditional sizes<Champion or Window world world come to mind. Know your sizes and try to stay out of the traditional salesman. Back in the day we could do 2 houses a day with sash replacements. I did mine in 1 1/2 days by myself

Giving your age You are looking at a 10 to 15 year investment for yourselves. Sash replacement is my opinion. If your kids will live there forever and money is not a option, Anderson full replacement that included pulling trim sealing, painting ETC.

The window companies build sash replacements for standard sizes that fit inside the standard. you loose 2 or so inches from there. PM me and i could possibly reach out to my customers in Covington for a sales person in the area.; such a deal I would not make for my own brother if I had one.

What’d you end up doing?

Our house has issues with uneven heating/cooling. I know the seals on some windows have failed because they’re cloudy. I’m trying to figure out if it’s a draft issue or uneven insulation issue. Or something else more expensive I hadn’t yet considered .

“Buy a home,” they said. “Enjoy the tax write offs,” they said ………….

19yr old windows + your final home = Spend the money to get replacement windows made. I replaced all 11 single pane windows in my brick ranch home with replacements. It was easy to do and I did it myself.
