Some of you who said you would bug out with your AR or AK should pour 1000 rounds into a backpack and carry it and your weapons around for one day.

I carried 1200 rounds of it on two really long belts on my IBA in two pouches. Its not that bad. You could also take this route.

I guess I have a small pecker because I would carry my AR and a pistol. The pistol would be a hard choice though. It's like picking just one child to bring along.

I does take some getting use to granted. The average civilian may find it more difficult. Moving and operating efficiently with that kind of gear takes a lot of practice. Train as you would fight fight as you would train. If you see me at the range I will be wearing stuff that makes most people go WTF?

Just going to say on average my extended backpacking trips 15-30+miles, my pack usually hovers around the 60-80lb mark. If I'm not mistaken the typical military pack is like 80ish lbs, correct me if I'm wrong guys....

1,000 rounds of 5.56 is right at 27lbs

And 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39 is right at 37 lbs...

So if someone was dead set on carrying 1,000 rounds for their rifle, with proper planning it could easily be done.

Neither one of us are dumb enough to jet out on a fully stocked FOB either. It would have to be something pretty bad to cause that. Even in a biological attack there is duct tape, plastic garbage bags, plywood and nails.
