You know most 30-30s and lever guns in general suck and can't hit a pie plate at 100 yards.

If it's a Winchester, it's top eject. Meaning the left side of receiver would have to be drilled. I wouldn't drill a Winchester, but a decent scope will help accuracy

It appears to be drilled and tapped from factory for side mounted peep sight. I believe they started doing that in the mid 50s.

Yep. Those two little screws on the upper left are for mounting a peep sight. Marlin and Winchester both did that.

My 1922 built Marlin 93 had them. But then Marlin was always a little ahead of Winchester.

It got up to a grand and I ain't paying a grand for a Marlin. I did get a 1971 winchester 94 for 675 though with buy now. It will be here soon.
