My 7mm Rem mag didn't have any more recoil than a .30-06 or .308 in sporter-weight hunting rifles.

1 question will answer this for ya. Which sound cooler "aught-six" or "Ohh-ate." because thats all the difference it will make to the deer. personally id say 308 cuz short action=light gun=can carry more little debbies and dr.pepper with me.
