Shaw barrels have improved quite a bit over the last few years.. Pretty much a Douglas std barrel equal these days.

Nice stick. Very impressive results with BLC2. I never thought of it a a suitable powder for long actions but wow, That puppy is smokin

Very happy with the craftsmanship performed on the rifle.

BLC2 is awesome for this round, since it's ball powder it meters very well and is not a compressed load like the 4064 load I was using.

This is one of my favorite rounds!I have an Encore barrel chambered in 338-06 that is hand lapped and with my reloads consisting of Win. reformed 35 Whelen brass,WLP.,RL 15,and a Hornady 250gr. round nose-it will group one ragged hole at 100yds!I took the largest whiteail i have ever taken a few years back and it absolutely hammered him.My next project is going to be a build using a custom 70 action with this chambering-can't wait to see the results!

I also used Rwmington 35 Whelen brass, I use a CCI large rifle mag primer. I have some heavy bullets, but built it with the Barnes 160's or Nosler 180's in mind. As for now I am pleased with the accuracy and load with the 180's so not gonna change. The target I posted was a 4 shot group. Three overlapping and the fourth off by itself. And it put the smack down on a big doe this morning!
