454 Casull Reloading

I looked at the web site for x-tream.

They indicate 1500fps as a max velosity.

These are from Freedom Arms for their guns only: bullet, powder, start load, fps, pressure, max load, velosity, pressure.

Given the barrel length and cylinder chamber, I would lean towards the 16 grain Blue Dot load in your gun.

Just an update.

I was able to lay my hands on some 300 MP powder and some 300gr XTP bullets (SKU: 45230).

My first loads (26.0 grs) shot just find and had a little power behind them.

The 300gr xtp bullets (SKU: 45230) had two crimp grooves and I decide to crimp on the the long grove. It put the COAL right at 1.77 inchs.

A heads up there is also a mag version of the 300gr xtp bullets (SKU: 45235) with only one crimp grove.

So my current cost per round is:
bullet: .3358
primer: .035
powder: .085
Total: $
.37165

Has any one else seen cheaper bullets out there that I can push at 454 velocities? 37 cents is not bad but I hope to do better.

Here are some cast bullets that should fit the bill. The 300gr SSK TCBB is only about $.14/ea shipped. If you want to go up to the 340gr or 350gr, they'll run $.20-.22/ea shipped.

My super red hawk 454 load that I've used for almost 10 years now is 300gr XTP Mag's since there is a difference between them and the regular XTP and I use 30 gr of H110 with fed 205 sr primers. I'm about to start on my 3rd reloading of my original hornady brass but I bought 100 starlines last year but have yet to have to use them. I have the long barrel version and I have a VX-III 2.5-8x28 scope on it zeroed for 100 yards and it'll print 2" groups no problem. I'm sure if I practiced more with it I could be better, but shooting it is a necessary evil. I've grown to tolerate its mighty recoil more especially since I added the scope which deff helps. 2 years ago I decided to pistol hunt and I took a 124 yard shot at a doe and there was another doe further through the woods but I had lost sight of it in the thick brush. I decided to take the shot which was hard enough out of a tree stand and not on my sandbags, but I shot and she hit the ground instantly and when I went to retrieve her I found that about 7 yards on her off side that the other deer was hidden perfectly behind her and I couldn't see it but to my surprise both deer had very fatal wounds. Deer 1 had a nice 1/2" hole going in and about a 3" exit, deer 2 had about a 1" entry and the whole opposing shoulder was nearly torn off. It had a hole that I could easily stick my open hand in. That day I realized the power that I had been toting around for the last 8 years. I knew it was powerful but at 124 yards to punch through a 140 pound doe and travel over 20' and go through the same target again but with amplified destruction was just jaw dropping. Especially when you consider that I'm launching a 300 grain bullet at around 1650-1700 fps which doesn't show any over pressure signs so I may could go hotter. The gun doesn't hurt to bad to shoot I anymore, it's just not exactly a plinking gun ya know. I didn't buy the 454 aspect of it to plink. I use the 45 colt aspect for that. It is a gun that I would use to take on any game animal in the world with the best confidence. I mean I've shot through 6" trees to kill hogs walking though the woods before, but the hog didn't notice what the bullet had been through before it died instantly. 454 is my go to round for ultimate power in a handgun.
