So now that Bushmaster is dead (along with DPMS and Tapco) it looks the ACR has died with it. Prices on it are already spiking when before it seemed you could pick one up for less then $1200 bucks last year.

That being said, I’ve never shot one, but always wanted one despite the fact it was never really praised for being a great rifle due to Bushmasters lack of support. Just an iconic part of being a teenager when it just came out I guess. I’m curious to see how you guys who have them like yours! especially anyone who their hands on a gen 1 or the very elusive Remington defense edition.

Cheers

they were cool. I saw one last year for 850 and should have jumped on it but with no support or future i couldnt see ever spending more than 1k on one. Same with teh robinson XCR that went hte same way

I had one and sold it a couple years back. It had potential but without support or aftermarket it just died. What did come, came too late. My biggest complaint was it was heavy, and front end heavy at that. It's biggest competition at the time was the SCAR and that blew it out of the water. Had they done away with the gimmicky removable barrel and come up with some after market handguards it may have survived?
It's just a collectors piece at this point.

Another fine I’ve wanted too add to the collection one day! The XCR at least adapted was supported. They’ve made pistol models too that are definitely high on my list of future purchases

The removable and quick-change barrel was the main selling point for the rifle. The fact that Bushmaster essentially killed that off is a crying shame and a big reason it never hit it's potential, both as a rifle or in the marketplace.

The original ones with all Magpul furniture and the fixed stock were my favorites. Maybe magpul could buy them back.. haha!

Magpul would have no interest. If memory serves me correct, the brains of the ACR took their check and went on and started KRG and DRD
