That's one area of green energy I don't mind: LED lighting works very well, are far more economical both in terms of energy use and longevity.
I agree with that. But what's the deal with LED flashlights? When you first buy them they're bright as hell. Then about 6 months down the road they all seem like the batteries are weak even with new batteries in them.

Haven't had that experience. Every LED flashlight I have, many different types and brands, even the cheap freebies from Harbor Freight, work well, go through batteries slowly, and don't lose brightness over time.
