I got an Idol issue on my 2006 CrownVic LX , I am pretty sure what it is ( I have gotten many opinions ) but nothing 'For Sure' .

So if anyone knows a mechanic who knows CrownVics , GrandMarcuis , Towncars with the same/similar engine ; please let me know .

I don't have mega $ to spend on some goof to diagnose a simple issue & charge me out the rear BUT I will pay for an honest , cool Person who knows these cars

Thanks ahead of time.

God Bless

Guess there are not any .

It;s hard to trust mechanics these days Esp ( IMO ) .

I truly wish that I could get an opinion of a person who worked on "Fleet vehicles ' like Police agencies or Taxi Companies that used . Crown Vics as their primary vehicles ; up until 2014 ? , when they went to Chargers & or Ford Explorer SUV's .

I just paid $150 for a diagnostic eval , that told me I needed a $4,800 Repair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But
They also said "I needed Front Brakes & Rotors ' ASAP
Funny cause I just put new Pads ( Mid Grade Ceramic Pads ) on to baby butt smooth Rotors on March 7 , 2025 & driven just over 1,000 miles since then .

So I DON"T TRUST THEIR WORD , !

The stress of this is killing me , I know I should not let it but hey , that's the way my brain developed . / OCD SUX LOL

God Bless Everyone

No Codes .

It has a Idol Drop from 600 rpm to 400 ish every 4 seconds after the car gets good and warmed up .

It's done this in one way or another & at different times since I got the car at 17,000 miles 3 + years ago .

It is a 2006 tho ?

Thanks for the ?

My 94 F250 has the same idle issue. I advanced the timing, distributor, and bumped the idle up. Problem mostly solved. You don't have a distributor and I don't believe you can change the idle.
My Mother in Law had a jacked up Marquis. Had several issues. My Brother in Law had that car for a while. Took it to Ford. Took two rounds and $1500. Best money spent, great running car now. I finished up all the other maintenance work to save her what I could.
We had a 94 that ran on 7cyl. one time. There were engine problems with those. Been around these cars most of my life. They are a good car. Good for 300k+. Had a 89 Crown Vic, nicest car we ever had. Bought it new

I highly recommend !! Been dealing with Terry and Kevin for years

Thanks 'BillsCamino ' If this issue persists , I may give them a shot , word of mouth referrals are what I'm looking for so THANKS ! & Have a great weekend .

Thanks 'basstracker89 ' My step Dad had a 86 CV until he bought a new CV in 1989 & it went 350,000 ( after a rebuilt Transmission at 290,000 . So I have been around them most my life hence the reason I purchased this one in 2023.

This shop said "I need a new or rebuilt Tranny " but they also stated " I needed front Brakes " that I just changed in March .

I will keep driving & if transmission issues start , I will look into that .

It has NO transmission issues at all but since it has 51,000 miles I would like to drop the pan & change the filter instead of flushing the whole system .

Thanks for the reply & have a goodin .
