Anyone ever been surprised by a gun?

The other thread about disappointing guns had me thinking. What guns have y'all bought or traded into with very low expectations and ended up loving? For me it was a Savage 17hmr with bull barrell. Got it on trade to sweeten a deal and figured I'd just sell it. It it one of my favorite guns now.

Agreed, I have one of the savages in stainless with a bull barrel, and accutrigger and it is a damn tackdriver.

^^^ my stepdad bought one with bull barrel and a BSA sweet 17 scope. Ridiculously accurate!

My 92SB stunned me at just how easy it was to shoot and its accuracy for a production pistol as well as how smooth the action was.

Our old Winchester model 67...... Single shot .22 27" barrel simple post front sight and basic buckhorn rear. The most accurate .22 I have ever shot, essentially if I can see it I WILL hit it.

My grandmother said that little .22 is what let her family get through the roughest times of the Great depression, after all their goats and hogs were gone, they ran out of shells for there shotgun quick, they used that little .22 to keep food on the table, everything from squirrels to rabbits to crows.

So if you really think about she might not have lived if it weren't for that rifle, which would mean I be here right now....love that old rifle. Still use it ALL the time, probably my most shot gun period.
