AR10 vs M14 Scout?

I've had both. I truly love both platforms.

The M1A is a classic. It's tough, reliable, and the Scout is a pleasure to shoot.
For me, the M1A out classes any AR based rifle. The history, the feel of walnut and steel,
and the look of the M1A would make me choose it for target and plinking only.
Toting one through the woods, beating it up, is tough on me!

Both AR's I've owned were based on the DPMS/SR 25 platform. I prefer these
because all my AR 15 fire control components are interchangeable with them, and
the magazines were much more affordable and very reliable for me.

I still have a 16" late model Bushy in chambered in .7.62, and I'm very pleased with it.

For my use, targeting, plinking, and some hunting, choosing between the two platforms
wouldn't be easy.

I believe I would likely fall on the side of the AR for everyday use? Versatility, easy parts replacement,
and a weight advantage would be the main factor. The second, less important factor for me is the spent
brass. While the AR's don't baby the brass, my experience with M1A's has been very short case life.
