Are Drs. Fishing for Dollars?

I have been told that I'm at the age where it needs to be done. But. if I happened to get into a car wreck, and have my leg broken or whatever, I'm sure they're not going to give me a stress test before they wheel me into the OR.
Nah, you gots an ER bill comin.........

Health or more apt sick care is a business. Doctors don't do healing. Doctors get paid to treat you healing is up to you. Doctors usually want to treat you within their own practice or group (its a business) and they want to treat you with profitable procedures (its a business) replacements are alot more profitable than therapy. PT's are legally limited to treating you for few visits because PT would provide 75% recovery from all injuries and improve overall health. A practice is about practicing and providing procedures services and most successful practices serve patients covered by insurance because they are assured a controlled price (controlled by insurance interests)

I know I answered this question in another post, but a few months back I was finally going to have my knee that I banged up 40 years ago on my Harley replaced. Ortho Dr. sent me to get a EKG, to which my reg. Dr. wouldn't do for whatever reason, but referred me to a Cardiologist. Of course he was with the same medical group that she's in. So, he takes the EKG, listens to my heart, looks over recent labs and says everything looks good. BUTTTTTT........ He wants me to take a stress test. So, I say ok, I can walk a treadmill, in pain, but I've walked around our local park and have lost almost 70 pounds in the process for a while now. Well, HE decides that I can't walk, bad knee you know, so he's going to give me a chemical stress test. For those that don't know, they inject you with something, and it stops your heart for a gazillionth of a second, and they get their data when it starts back up. That is, if it does, they have a heart team on standby, just in case it doesn't. I know this, because years ago, when I was 70 pounds or more heavier and actually couldn't walk, they did this to me. They give you a can of Coke (yes the soda) to get your heart rhythm back in step after the shock of dying is still fresh in your mind. Well, I refused the test, said he was searching for a solution to a problem that didn't exist, and walked out without the clearance I needed for my knee. So I still walk in pain, but I'm used to it after all this time and I am a Trooper.
Now comes last Friday. I go to my regular Dr. for a yearly checkup. Every thing good. BP great, some tests I had before, good to go. Need scripts? Yep, refill them all. Let's do a prostrate exam real quick, just for old times sake. Well, I guess I say. OK good, I'm going to take a couple more blood tests before you go too. Hey, can you take a leak? No problemo I say. Today I get a call, and guess what. My Vitamin K is elevated. VITAMIN F'N K!!!!!!! What the F is VitaminK????? And how many people have ever heard of Vitamin K????? Better yet, how do they develop a test for Vitamin K, and how many Drs. actually test for Vitamin K???? Now my wife is pissed at me because I told her I don't give a crap. I ain't dropping any more money on Drs. that go looking for non existent cures for non existent illnesses. So, rant over. Hope you enjoyed the story. I'm enjoying the silence in the house.

Last month I went to see my Primary doctor, at the VA Clinic In, Lawrenceville, he said oh Vasquez your doing great, but I'm going to recommend Ozempic, I was why I just lost 82 pounds in 17 months. Then the nurse walked in and told the doctor you can't put him on Ozempic, he had Cancer. The doctor looked at me and said , if I were to put you on Ozempic, I would be in big trouble. I said why are you pushing a medication on me that I don't need, he just walked away.

They are drug pushers!!!
They have not a clue how to read the room....blood, and tests.....oh...your 2 points above this, or that...you need to be on this drug....can't be off two points....when 25 years ago there were no readings like they have today....
My big deal besides the Bone Marrow thing is HYDRATION!!! they are all over me to drink more...drink more....drink more....I don't know about ya'll....I NEVER took a bottle of water to school or to work....I NEVER saw my folks drink water....I NEVER saw my grandparents drink water......NOW...I'm supposed to drink 60oz a day!!! anyone have a clue as to how much that is????
If I still worked, there would be no way...I simply couldn't carry that much water with me......I have a glass on hand at all times today.....they say "make sure you drink when you're thirsty" that is not possible...there is NO WAY you can drink 60oz a day, and be thirsty.....

Ive had 2 heart related stress tests at different times (1st treadmill, 2nd nuclear), and both were clear. I've never mentioned having any heart related symptoms to any doctors, yet both tests were ordered by them for just that issue. I was of course happy all was well, but also pi**ed that I had to pay the bills for the test (absolutely crappy health insurance back then). Doesn't pertain to all, but I've always suspected that people are diagnosed falsely at times just to pad the books. I'll never believe any differently............

Also exactly why at 64 I've never had a colonoscopy. My wife did finally twist my arm into sending in a Cologuard home test kit just recently and the results were negative. I have a sign back there that reads "EXIT ONLY", and I'd love to keep it that way!

well...I've had two...I'm 71...will probably have another...BUT maybe not...cancer is something you have to take seriously.....I'm not in to all the additional testing, however when it comes to cancer...count me in

I’m blessed in that I have a sister and now my wife are both Family Nurse Practitioners. They both truly have my best interests at heart. Oh, and Dr David Rowan in PTC has been my primary care doc for 15 years. Followed him from Fayetteville and drive from Locust Grove. He’s pretty good at keeping me healthy.

We don't have healthcare in this country we have "sick care" and it's in theirs and the pharmaceutical companies best interests to keep you just well enough to come back for more tests and treatments.
I got back from the Dr's office. First thing out of the nurses mouth was "Have you had your flu shoot yet? The answer is no and I ain't going to either. I told her I don't trust anything they have to say about shots or vaccines and I've had my last one. Go find another lab rat.
