Well I have 3. 1st my go to gun which is a Remington model 700 in a 270 I call it my beater gun because its there every time I call on it. 2nd is a Remington model 7400 carbine in a 30/06 chock full of 220 grn core lokts for when it absolutely has to stop in its tracks. and last but not least is my Browning BAR safari in a 308 its just a beautiful gun to look at and shoot, my wife spends more time with it than I do.

I hunt everything but elk with a 22-250. It has been excellent for me, but I shoot everything in the head. I've taken deer and bear both in GA with it and they've never known what hit them.

There isn't a best, but if you are looking for for something that isn't run of the mill, something with a little sex appeal: 6.5x55 swede, .260, .257 Roberts, .375 Winchester, would be fine choices.

Tis true...used one for years. Now I tote the venerable old 30-06...with a side of a 25-06 for long range laser shots.
