Best scope for a lever 30-30

I have decided to go ahead and get this ready for deer season. What scope would be the best fit? Should I go with see thru rings and leave the sights and hood in tact? 30-30 xlr

If that's a 45-70 then you better go with a good scope to take the punishment like a Leupold. Other wise you could go with a Nikon, Redfield or Burris come to mind. I like a 40mm objective and @ 3-10x should suffice

Have shot a few times a friends 30-30 with a 1-3x Weaver, very nice setup. Very compact, enough so it didn't mess with the handling. Hunts it on a few stands where 75 yards would be longest shot. Takes a rifle with a 2-7x if he's hunting longer. My reaction was **** me, this is starting to sound like golf. Are you looking to make it an all purpose setup, or something with a more specific range of use?

I put a Sig Romeo 5 Red dot on mine. Low profile and compact. Zeroed in at 50 yds. That has me good for any range I will need where I hunt.

Leupold 2.5x Ultralight would be sweet on there. Only 6.5 ounces.
