I would almost prefer Zombies over SHTF, which brings me to my question, who on here thinks zombies are plausible?

I did not vote, I have a variety of "stuff" to suit different scenarios. When the time comes I will decide on my best option(s).

Seriously? I have always thought of the use of the word "Zombie" as a generic synonym for any real world bad guy.

Not seriously, I don't beleive in the Hollywood zombie where you turn if you get bitten and all that stuff but I beleive it is possible for a virus to mutate and attach the celibrium and the frontal lobe and essentially you would end up with a brain dead "zombie" that would be able to controll rage and could lead to violent attacks and possibly caniballism, not likley but possible but not like the movies by any means

AR is lighter and more accurate so its winning. I like a harder hitting 7.62 but meh - to each his own. Depending on the reason for a bug out I would prob go with 22lr
Oh I agree with you Johnny but how far away do you think you will be in a SHTF scenario? Everyone is tryin to be unnoticed so your likely to be right up on em if you run into someone
mini 14 : as to somewhat pass under the radar and not draw as much attention - not appearing to be a threat may be a pass in some cases or a tactical suprise advantage in others - while still being able police the area for common ammo afterwards is a good bonus - then there is that whole reliability thing also
Only thing I'm worried about with the AK is survivability of the steel case ammo, won't be good if it's exposed to wet conditions for an extended period of time, although I've scraped rust off old Russian surplus ammo that was pitting even and shot it up with no incident
