I only own .223 and .308, so I hunt with what I have. I have a 20 gauge that is also used.

I have hunted whitetail deer for many years with an early Howa 1500 chambered in 270 - I’ve always encountered humane put downs with this round without carcass decimation, perhaps assisted by shot placement but then again, I’m not that great of a marksman.
