Getting there......

They're dropping already?? I have a couple young trees and this will be their first year to produce but they are no where near ready to drop.
Mine are 20 years old, and have been producing for about 10 years. Usually, depending on weather, they start to fall around the end of August. The deer have been coming in and eating the green ones off of the limbs they can reach. Nice to have the early acorns.

No acorns yet here but the neighbors persimmons are starting to drop and they’re attracting every deer within a 1.5 mile radius.
Been seeing lots of different herds including batchelor groups over there.
I’m gonna try my hand at grafting some branches this year from their trees and trying to propagate some seeds from the fruit.
I can think of a million spots I’d love to start some persimmon trees.
Neighbors said I can have as many as I want since I cleaned up some downed trees for them.

For anbody that didn't look at the "hairy nut" thread, this is what my deer are snacking on right now. The super sawtooths are plentiful. We planted these trees as seedlings, which were smaller than a number 2 pencil. The shucks look like hair, and when green, the deer eat them whole.
