Cutting & Recrowning

I have a New England Firearm SB-2 In 280 Caliber which has a 26 Inch Barrel And I need to cut 4" off making a 22 Inch. My question is How much velocity will I loose and what type of Crown would you recommend for the best accuracy. The rifle will be used for deer hunting only with shots at 200 yards more or less. Thanks for your input.

You'll lose between 60 - 100 FPS depending on load and weight, should still be well above 2,900 FPS. Any crown will give good results as long as it is correct. I prefer recessed crowns myself as the crown stay a little more protected.
