Do I have to have a background check if I have a GWL?

Nope apparently it's up to the dealer if they want to or not, happened to me. I had a gun transferred to a gun store 2 mins from
My house cause I saw great deal, when it arrived I went in and tried to pick it up, I gave him both my license and he gave me the permit back and said he doesnt need that. Sure ok I was fine with that, so he calls in and 15 mins later he tells me I'm denied, and I asked him why? I just bought a gun at the show last Sunday and he said NICS don't tell them anything so long story short, I ended up having to pay to have it shipped back and paid shipping AGAIN to have it shipped to Cherokee whom I found out after getting denied because I knew I was clean so went ahead and had to ship to Cherokee to be picked up. I went thru the NICS process and at the same time went and picked it up at Cherokee with no problem. Waited 6 months for a letter from NICS stating I was approved, gave me a printed paper stating I was approved and had a certified stamp to prevent fraud.

This is "Harold Pawn Shop" in Kennesaw, GA. Right on the side of downtown kennesaw.

I don't buy anything there because they told a buddy that has a GWL ( I was with him) that a GWL isn't worth the paper it is written on. They ALWAYS have to do the call in, no matter who it is according to them, they told us it was per BATF rules we told them they were full of BS and walked out......He was trying to buy a cheap used gun. I know it is dealers option if they want to call it in, but they are the only place I have ever been that calls in everyone. There prices are very high also.

HAhahah I wouldn't even say their prices are high, they don't even have a selection. Only reason why I went there was because I didn't even know about Cherokee back then and it was literally 2minutes away from my house, made that mistake, cost me $50 more than what I wanted to pay.

Apparently he doesn't know what hes doing.

They had a sign saying they would sell any gun for $35 over what it cost them.......I had them check on a Glock 19, their price was $626 for a Gen 3.... their cost was above retail at most stores.....lol

The owner(Harold) passed away a couple of years ago and his wife and her new boyfriend run it now, he is a jackleg that thinks people are stupid.....her son works there too, he is a piece of work. I have bought a bunch of stuff from people going there on Mondays....they are not open. If I drive by and see someone outside that looks like they need money quick, I stop and ask them what they are selling.

if anything i would use it as a haggling tool to talk down the price. they normally tack on the price of a background check to it.
I've never had any store charge for a background check, it doesn't cost them anything to do one. If a store or a dealer wanted to charge for one I'd just leave and go somewhere else.
