Electricity goes out for 6 months in the entire United States, would you survive?

Tazz- glad to hear about you family and hope things stay wel for all of you.

I think I would survive just fine. I don't think the supermarkets and gas stations would just shut down. They may at first and there would be a bunch of panic but people would figure out a way to get around it. Do you really think these big corporations are going to shut down all their stores or would they figure out a way around it to keep making money.

That's a good point. The stores that managed to secure a power source would keep on trucking. Pretty sure Home Depot would stay open...

my wife and I are healthy and am confident we could survive for 6 months with no power... this goes without saying that we are merely powerless and not in a state of mass panic with looting/stealing/murder running rampant.

If it included the later... probably still survive... just a little more nerve racking.

Ga Power would never let this happen to us.....they'd have us up and running in no time!
If it was summer time, I'd be fooked cause my pool pump couldn't operate and no electricity=no cold beer to drink in said pool.

if power went out like that, I'd head for the coast. Might was well get the sea breeze if the a/c is out.

People who say they can hunt to provide food, don't you think most game would be hunted to extinction in a matter of weeks if food supplies were interupted? You can assume limits and seasons would be ignored if people go hungry, and I don't think the wild populations have any chance of supporting 1/1000 of the population.

Hard to say. Maybe, maybe not. Scenarios like this have far too many variables.

But I think it's doable with a little luck. I have spent 6 months in the woods before, but I had plenty of store bought food and I was by myself.

Yep...our little group would be just fine! All of us have pretty good health and are not dependent on any medicine. We've already invested in Solar panels and battery banks to power our RV's & got hundred's of gallons of fuel. We've also have a good bit of food stored up. We just hope & pray we never need this, but you never know when we may be in a similar situation as Japan or the folks in yesterday's storms!
