I like Hybrids only if they are PHEV. The problem Toyota has is lack of leadership.

Did you know Toyota once owned 10% of TESLA? They sold it and said EV was not the future. Akin to the largest mistake the Japanese ever made...which was pulling back their armada post pearl harbor

That 10% ownership in Tesla would have given them :

1) 10% of $1 Trillion Market Cap of Tesla or $100 Billion
2) That 10% ownernship in Tesla is worth 25% of their own company as Toyota is worth only $400B market cap
3) Access to Tesla technology
4) Leaped all their competition

They Hybrid play is a consolation prize. But hopefully, the learned from their mistake

Highly successful Toyota Hybrids predate Tesla EVs by 6 years, Toyota Hybrid technology seems to improve with every passing year... Tesla not so much.
