F/N Five Seven: All hype or awesome gun?

I owned one for about 2 years. I put around 1000 rounds through it and never could get it to group worth a damn. I'm talking 6 inch groups at 15 yards. That's unacceptable. Maybe I got a lemon, but I have no need for an innacurate handgun. The gun itself was ok, and I love the cartridge. Low recoil, good capacity-so so spongy trigger.

I had the same problem. I blamed the sights but it certainly could have been me.

I sold mine to finance another project. But I must say, it's an AWESOME gun. Recoil is about like a .22LR. Stopping power is like a 5.56 NATO round. You can carry it IWB... accurate as hell... the list goes on. If I had endless $$, I'd add one back to my collection today.

I agree! The best hand gun I have ever owned and still do. Cleans up great, and the ballistics can go through 4 bullet proof vests. Go on and get one. If you pay over 1500 you got ripped off. Hell, if you paid that you still are getting ripped off. You'll enjoy, go purchase one, if you can. I'll never sell mine.

Ditto on the PMR 30. I got one so if my wife needed a lot of firepower she could do a mag dump of .22 magnum with ease, 30 rounds

ive been doing a lil research on the five-seven and the PmR30 so far im leaning more towards the PMR30 just based on ballistics test ive seen, also its looks slightly slimmer and shorter.plus i really like the thought of 30 rounds in a pistol.

Alas, my opinion as well....

If you are interested:

I will sell you mine cheaper than any other listed on ODT. It is FDE with the adjustable sights ($100 option from factory) with only about 250 rounds through it. It is in excellent condition with not a scratch on it with all box, docs, and 3 mags included from factory. It is probably the most accurate pistol that I have ever owned. I have taken it to a bowling pin shoot and it actually was able to go thru the pin and exit without knocking the pin down (not every time)! If you want to shoot it, I will meet you at a range and supply some test rounds for you to form your own opinion.

I will sell the gun only for $1500
I also have a fobus holster and probably 200 rounds left, if you wanted to work something out on those.

The only reason that I am even considering selling it is because it will fund some upgrades to my Harley. I use the bike a lot during the summer to save me on gas, so figured put the money into the bike.

If you are interested in it or just want to shoot it to see what you think, pm me. I am in Woodstock. I don't think you will be disappointed with the purchase of any Five Seven. They are great guns.

Did i mention it is LOUD!

+1

Pops has one and I remember its first trip out the mags wouldn't stay in because a spring or something was missing for the release, Pops was pissed.
back then think he paid close to $1100 for it so that was a downer. It's a sweet shooter, light recoil (think this is why he bought it, bad wrist)
its accurate
BUT...
I wouldn't consider buying one back then or now, mags + parts + ammo are all very costly and scarce
My personal hang up is the price, it does not feel like an $1100 hand gun or much less $2-4k handgun
I think FNH sub contracted Fischer-Price to make it, feels and looks like garbage IMHO with all the castings or marks, etc... you see when two
pieces of plastic are melted together, once again IMHO

I'd like to try the PMR 30 see if its more my taste, but once again the the market on a gun that msrp's for $400 is now $900+
