It's what they do.This is only the beginning. Our new "efficient" federal government is going to be more efficient than ever at keeping track of our every move.
have several around stockbridge proper. pretty much at city limit signs on all in/out roads.
I'm pretty sure no warrant is necessary to film anything in plain view in public.Capture a license plate? Okay. I don't love it, but it's a publicly issued document, in use on a public roadway. Without a warrant, use should be limited to automated searches for reported stolen vehicles, active manhunts, etc. Any other investigative access should require a warrant.
On the other hand...pictures gathered from a government operated network of cameras, of cars, pedestrians, bikes, etc., into a persistent database that can be used to track individuals without a warranty? Blatant violation of the 4th Amendment and prevailing case law.
My opinion is they should use technology to trim out anything but the license plate.
It's what they want to do, but they're kinda retarded and outdated and there inefficiency plays in our favor. Elon is gonna clean all that up though, give them the best AI surveillance systems possible. Of course there will be rules in place to keep the government from abusing these toolsIt's what they do.
