Well not yet anyway. I went to the eye doc to get contacts and come to find out I'm high risk for glaucoma. So they want me to go to a specialist for testing. Pretty bummed and feeling old. I'm only 35, too young for these problems. Yay for crappy genetics. If confirmed I'll be on eye drops the rest of my life like my grandma was.

Open enrollment is coming up at work so I need to apply for eye insurance. Question is, should I wait to get insurance before I make this eye doc appointment? I feel like it would be a problem if I'm diagnosed with glaucoma before hand.

But, on the plus side. Contacts seem to make red dots appear more clear.

Won’t your insurance kick in Jan 1? The chances of a specialist having an opening before then are slim anyway.

But, I’d wait it out if you can until your insurance kicks in. Probably be medical anyway though for that particular issue rather than vision insurance.

If you work for a medium- to large- firm, just call someone within your firm and ask them to confirm that you're covered for pre-existing vision conditions. Every medical plan is different, so they'll probably have a detailed guide of what is covered (on which plan, if your company offers a choice of plan)

I guess I gotta embrace being old Dustin now. Take my vitamins, grouch at youngsters, talk about how everything was better back in the good old days. Sonny, back in my day the phone was attached to the wall and you couldn't use the internet if someone was on it. Now get off my lawn while I can still see.

" Because glaucoma is an eye disease, treatment for the condition is usually covered by major medical health insurance plans, not vision health insurance plans."

You need to check on medical, vision, dental.

If your company has an HSA check to see if that is a good fit for you.

If you have not done so I would get a term life policy though somebody that shops around.

Good luck!

I hope it all works out for you. I have and do know some elderly that have lived with that for a while. Medical science continues to get better
