Has anyone ever washed their guns?

I have an AR in 5.45. I wash it out in the basement mud room sink with hot water to reduce the corrosive ammo effects before I clean it further.

Can't say I've washed it, but a good hosing out with brake cleaner in the trigger area and upper and chamber makes carbon removal a quick job. Soaking the carrier group in the drippings, then an additional jet flush get it's clean down to the phosphate, then re-oil.

Don't do this, but there is some logic to it. Not for powder residue removal, but as a copper solvent. The more powerful copper solvents have ammonia in them. That's what makes up the majority of urine.

Washed Glocks many times... cheaper than Brake Clean... then blow out with Air Compressor, relube and good to go...
