Have you ever discharged a firearm accidentally??

Yes, shot a .22 LR round into the ground halfway between my feet and my friend's feet because I thought it was empty and I was going to just pull the trigger on an empty chamber and hear a "click".. but I pointed it in a halfway safe direction before doing that.

Well if I've known the damn thing was gonna go off, I would pointed it in a much safer direction!!! A TRULY safe direction.

I was lowering the hammer over a live round on a model 1911 and I knew the gun was loaded.
But I was sloppy and I did not use the correct technique for lowering the hammer. I kept the grip safety pressed in the entire time. (Bad).
Well, the gun was a little oily, my finger slipped, and it fired.

I was pointing it in a truly safe direction:
down at my bed on the ground floor of a house. The bullet went through the mattress through the box spring ( did not hit any wooden components by the way)
... and embedded itself in a stack of magazines under the bed.

Now, this was before torso body piercing was a thing,

and I'm pretty sure that Miss December / Pet of the Month did not appreciate the piercing that her photo got that day !!

Closest I've come was touching off a light SA trigger on a .357 revolver before I had my sights lined up all the way. Shot about 10" high and hit the steel plate that covers the motor on the target track at the indoor range. Yikes. Luckily nothing was damaged or broke. I haven't outright ND'd into the floor or ceiling though and am hoping to keep it that way...

Hmmm.... Now.... I wonder what kind of magazines one keeps under the bed? Hmmm?

I have never had an accidental discharge. I have had a negligent discharge. I shot bambam bambam in the leg at Howard's Pawn with a Chi-Com air rifle. (ricochet but still, hit him).

Yes, 25-06 that was “unloaded” cost me a day at work and blow out a living room window. My Wife still busts my chops about it, almost 10 years later.

I got it in trade to swap scopes with my .270. When finish I worked the bolt and held the trigger. (Which is how I store all my bolt actions)
Having received no ammo in trade, owing no 25-06 ammo, what could happen? BOOM!

Rest his soul, the gent I got it from said he was throwing in his last 3 rds in the mag and forgot to tell me.
Long short MY DUMB A$$ didn’t check it my self.
Tell her you were sighting it in.........
