Yes. When I was as kid I had one of those BB, 1911 pistols. My step Mom let me buy it and handle it I saw fit. We were watching TV that night. I accidentally discharged it and it ricocheted off the carpet hitting the TV. Didn't hurt anything, but she took it back the next day.
Years later I was tinkering with an AR and discharged it though a carpeted floor into a basement. Again didn't hurt anything, but still bad. I had checked the chamber, but somehow missed the round. I checked any never found any part of that bullet. At least I had it pointed in a safe direction.
Many years after that, I had taken a custom built model 700 out to shoot. I had it pointed down range. Laid my finger on the trigger to get ready to shoot. It went off. It had a 1lb trigger pull. So a new learning curve.
My brother in law and his friend were playing in his room. They were in high school, I think. Anyways he had a model 60 Smith. It went off through the back wall of his closet and through his parents bedroom wall. Hit the back side of the dresser mirror and broke it. Nobody was home. Maybe they were out of town. Anyway, they fixed, painted the wall and replaced the mirror. He put a poster up in the back of his closet to hide the hole. Nobody ever knew it for years till he fessed up as an adult. The hole is still in the back of the closet till this day.
This is why I don't like shooting around other people. I don't like being lased by careless people
