Getting bad in Rockmart also. The Rockmart homeless initiative is bringing them in quickly.

Yes it is. Rural community and all the homeless walking around with backpacks and blankets rolled up. Tents in the woods near the Silver Comet trail and other areas

This may be true, however, when you figure out a way to separate the bums from the people who truly have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own, please enlighten us.

BTW, we also feed stray animals.

Unfortunately the people that have fallen on hard times are usually ashamed to seek help. You probably work with or go to church with some of these people and you dont know it.

Can vouch for this. I work in healthcare and still struggle. I know a surgeon who has no furniture.

Stuff happens, especially at the worst possible moment. You can go from living pretty well to jobless and broke pretty quick, unless you make enough to save. That is not real easy to do with all the expenses today.
The thing about it is there are lots of folks on both sides of this homeless bit. There are folks that fall on hard times and have a real hard time recovering but they do. Then there are folks that have been down and out a long time, they dont care because they know folks will ‘drop off supplies’ or feed them at the church. These are the ones you see in the same shape for years.
Lately it has brought about a third kind of homeless. The young drug addicts that would rather live in a tent & shoot dope than waste that paycheck on pesky bills.

I have no care about the person that wont help themselves. If you are doing the same things day in and day out that made you homeless and a bum, then have at it. You wont even get a blanket from me.

There will always be bums and homeless. They choose to be that way. The person down and out that needs a hand up (not a hand out) should get the breaks . Sadly, determining who is who is all but impossible unless you are in there working and you know the faces and stories.

They burned up a bridge in Athens that had a 4" gas pipeline running under it.. Fortunately the FD got the fire out before the pipeline was impaired, but it was scorched.
