Hunting with an AR pistol, legal?

does anyone know the legality of hunting with an AR pistol? I’ve scoured the interwebz with no luck, yes it’s a little unconventional but I figured why not

What are you hunting?
There is an ODT member who mentioned that he has only hunted deer with handguns for years now. Not sure I would choose an AR pistol for that depending on the barrel length and cartridge.

I’ve always hunted .308 so I figured this would really bring the challenge. And I plan on hunting with iron sights, going to have to make sure my ninja skills are maxed out
