Unmarked white van just drove down our driveway 100' and my doorbell rang at 8pm Sunday in the dark. Not knowing who the hell it was I grabbed my pistol and a bright light and went out the back to come around the front. An unmarked van with headlights on is backing down my driveway so I carefully walked up on it and hit a lady driver with the bright beam as she is stammering in broken English about package at door. REALLY! Turns out it was from Amazon. Morons!

End rant!

Next time just do the "tactikick approach" through the door of the van.

No, I don't either. I head out back to the trusty old mortar and start walking HE up the driveway, safety first.

A few years back, my neighbor called me at around 9 pm, said a truck was parked at my gate and someone just jumped over it, my property is completely fenced in with a locked gate. So I look out and indeed there is a truck sitting at my gate. I grab my AK47 and a flashlight and go outside. Don't see anyone anywhere start walking down the drive towards my shop when a black guy in solid black pants and jacket walks out from behind the shop. I approach with said AK locked and loaded. He starts yelling saying he's with Ga. Power and was doing something to the power meter on my shop, remember, he's in solid black, no Ga. Power emblem on him or the truck. I walk him to the gate, unlock it, and tell him he's lucky I didn't shoot him. Go inside, call 911, and make a report. Next day, the Sheriff's deputy comes by and says the guy has filed a compliant against
me, and wants to know if I want to file a complaint against him for trespassing. I said not right now and he leaves. I know the local Ga. Power "guy in charge" and call him and tell him what happened. He comes to see me about an hour later and said that guy was a contractor for them and was not supposed to be out that late and surely should not of jumped my locked fence, and that he dropped the complaint, and has been fired.

It gets dark at 5:30pm during winter, so you guys that treat a knock on the door after dark as a potential threat should probably stick to shopping at brick and mortar stores.

Put it in perspective. During the holidays, package delivery drivers can become targets of armed robbery. So, if I'm delivering when it's dark and some guy runs up on me with a flashlight and a gun, my first thought is that I'm being robbed. If the driver (all of them are contractors) is packing too, it could get ugly, all because service providers are working around the clock to get you the **** you ordered as quickly as possible and you don't like anybody on your lawn.

I can hear the explanation to the LEO.."well, I'd had a couple of beers and forgot that I ordered a pizza" lol. Of course this explanation would be much preferred over the pizza delivery guy having to say "well, he ordered a pizza but when he jumped me I could smell that he'd been drinking and I was afraid he was going to kill me" .
