Im all for some slang...when its appropriate, but not when youre trying to be serious. Using words like colloquial next to axed, if'n, kinda, and others, just looks like you arent being serious.

Definitely some folks on here that need to stay polished up on their "yessah", "nosah" and steppin' and fetchin'. Sad.
I do that precisely in order to NOT overdo the "serious" thing. I have found that a sense of humor in almost any scenario, helps folks to relax, a teeny-tiny ( there I go again) bit, & perhaps opens up a line of communication. Have done this my entire life, even teaching classes on highly complex networks. Did it in the USCG! Have done it in church & some of my Baptist ( yep! BAPTIST ) ministers do the same thing. Have seen it done & I have done it at funerals & memorial services , and I might add with good results. Life is already far too serious. I've seen cops use humor in VERY SERIOUS SITUATIONS & COLOQUIAL LANGUAGE. Seems to work with most folks. Besides, all over this site there is all kinda ( there I go!) sarcastic statements ,& stuff which is strictly meant as man-to man humor & butt-busting. During the course of another life, I found out as a very young pup, that those older WW2vets who were my mentors, all used all kinda nonsensical humor & language, HOWEVER, they were the best at their jobs! Our entire administration, all old school might I add, understood that & appreciated it! Those who were too serious weren't always the best performers. This concept extended into a much later very high tech life , whereas deep thought & long hours could easily lead into a burnout or a stress related mistake. THX!

That was harder to watch than some of the **** I've seen in combat. I'm a dog lover so while I understand the use of force in that situation it was just hard to see the dog go down like that.

For those hating on the rottie...... Its all in the owner.
This is my 2 year old daughter with her buddy Damian. She climbs on him, pulls his ears, feeds him bare handed, sleeps with him, pulls his tail and can even give him his german commands for lying down and heal. He is a Schutzhund 2 trained dog (german based personal protection sport), he is trained in tracking, obedience, and protection. He would do the same thing for me if someone grabbed me or was wrestling around with me. That looked like a loyal dog to his owner but a DUMBF*&K of an owner to put the dog and himself in that position. But I am able to control my dog enough to where if he is running full speed at a perp and I give him the heal command of the lay down command, he will stop in his tracks and return to me or lie down. He is also trained to attack anyone that points a gun at him. (accept myself of course) and he was VERY good at it. Hes 9 years old now with lung cancer so he's not in his prime any more. I will ALWAYS have a rottie.

Does no one find it odd that a guy with a lawsuit against the department is there video taping something that has nothing to do with him? I'm sure he has been a 100% law abiding an stand up citizen right? And everyone in this thread knows everything that went on prior to this video being shot, right?
It is OBVIOUS he wasn't being arrested for video taping the police so maybe, just maybe y'all should consider that the guy arrested deserved it.
It's sad the dog was killed. But I never leave the windows down far enough the my dogs can get out, I also wouldn't har brought a dog with that type reputation to a situation I had no business in that has the potential to backfire on me.

Yep! That's one reason this upset me so much, as in my "older, arthritic, not-so-great shootin' eyes anymore", years,, we have adopted a 68 pound mixed breed love of our lives. the love is mutual, I don't care what the phd's on animal husbandry & biologists have to say. My granddaughter simply cannot fathom how silly we are with our 8 year old "daughter". And make no mistake, in my younger adventuresome deep in the woods hunting years, I have been attacked & thusly killed a bunch of horrible mongrels, who were dumped in the woods only to become vicious disease carrying killers of anything they could kill. Killed a few coyotes ,too! There's an astronomical difference in domestic, human loving canines & wild savage , sometimes sneaky mongrels & anyone who has been there will know the recognition doesn't take a classroom to learn it. Nasty critters! We were friends with our SGT. rank GW and he warned us to shoot them on site! This thread has taken all kinds of turns!
