All of my true friends joke all the time. It is what we do. We love to bust each others chops and no one never gets offended. It is expected. We do not wear chips on our shoulders.

Do they joke about interfering with how you make your living in your place of business?

I don't disagree with what you are saying. I wouldn't have bought it out from under him either, but he said it jokingly and the "friend" (store owner) basically threatened him for a joke. A "friend" wouldn't threaten you like that.

He didn't "threaten" me, and I didn't feel threatened - I thought he was explaining the facts of life as they are.

As I said, on further reflection, if the same thing happened at my place of business, I would do the same thing. I wouldn't want my best friend hooking customers from me at my place of business.

Due to the somewhat peculiar nature of the pawn shop business, I had never really thought it through.
