India vs Pakistan

one of the end of the world books I've read, starts with nuclear launch between Pakistan and India....then, from there....kinda like popping the cherry....
how did they get nuclear in the first place....guess because they are smarter...
They called tech support.

We'll see what losses are real on both sides. A true Rafale loss would be quite a blow for the IAF, since they are their most recent big ticket purchase and perhaps their future standard aircraft. Plus the Indian navy just signed a contract for 26 of the Rafale M.

If India has lost an aircraft as some are reporting, I would have guessed it to be Mirage-2000, since they were used in the 1999 Kargil War for strike missions. But reports are saying Rafale as you mentioned. Same for Pakistan, a newly acquired J-10C going down (or an older F-16) at some point would be a severe setback for the PAF and China.

India has also relied heavily on Russia in the past for aircraft (plus tanks and other weapons) so their SU-3MKIs may have played a role in the strikes (CAP?). In 2019 the IAF did lose a MiG-21 Bison, but a Rafale or Su-30 would be a much bigger deal. Pakistan has been turning to China, so if things escalate further we'll see which weapons prove to be sucessful and which do not (France vs Russia vs China).
France has confirmed it- “the aircraft shot down included three Rafale jets” and others. https://tribune.com.pk/story/254455...firms-downing-of-rafale-by-pakistan-cnn?amp=1. Possibly by a Chinese weapon. See here https://www.twz.com/air/chinas-pl-1...rs-to-have-been-used-in-combat-for-first-time

We probably look at the same web sites each day....lol.

I'm just skeptical of the initial claims until we know more, losses are finally admitted by each side and wreckage is identified. We've seen claims with Ukraine & Russia that didn't pan out.

I see claims of 5 IAF aircraft being downed (3 Rafales, 1 MiG-29 plus 1 Su-30MKI). Another site mentions wreckage of a Mirage 2000, so were the 3 losses all Rafales or some Mirages too? Both would carry French weapons and have French markings. Losing 3 Rafales would be 10% of the 36 aircraft purchased. :eek2:

If the claims hold up and the IAF lost 5 aircraft in one skirmish, that will be a dark day for India. They must evaluate what happened, to find out why their new Rafales and high level Su-30MKIs failed to perform as expected. Perhaps there are friendly fire shoot-downs involved....?

Will be interesting to see which PAK aircraft are credited with air to air kills. If both the JF-17 and J-10C will get credited with them, I'm sure Pakistan will be happy to buy more from China to replace their remaining old Mirage IIIs and maybe F-16As. I suspect it's the J-10s..... Plus China might see some sales for them in Egypt to replace their old F-16s. Air to air kills will certainly generate headlines for Chinese weapons.

Wait, this is India versus Pakistan right?ehhhh, who cares….. if it was New York versus California I might be interested, but then again probably not…….
Well this has the potential to spread far beyond the borders of just these two combatants so it bears watching.

Well there is this possibility, highly unlikely as it is......
