For a muscle car, I'd get the Mustang GT with stick shift. Anything different would be a mistake

If it's not what the kids will normally ride in, you've got nothing to worry about. It's the best sounding and most fun driving car you can have in that price range, IMO.

Camaros have horrible visibility. If I was set on a Chevy I'd just go ahead and get the Corvette.

Rear seats in sports cars are there mainly for insurance purposes, they are NOT good for hauling kids around. I had a new '88 5.0 Mustang, kids were 6 & 8 back then and they barely had room to breathe. Seats in the back of sports cars rarely get bigger or more comfortable, my kids hated the back seat of that Mustang.

He's single, no kids. But the two extra doors reduce his insurance premiums.
