Large game in SHTF

ALso reading up on aquaponics. Looks very intriguing. You use fish in a water reservoir to infuse fertilizing element into the water which the plants purify to recycle the water for the fish. By using tilapia you get edible fish while growing edible vegetables. Fish and salad in one ecosystem.

You are on to something. I did a small scale aquaponics set-up last summer, which worked very well. Bear in mind, unless you rig it for solar or wind, you will be dependent on electricity to run the pump. Aquaponics works well with leafy greens and other small vegetables. It gets a bit more involved if you want to grow peppers and tomatoes, as usually supplementation is required (iron, sulfur, phosphorus).

I want some of that canned chicken with either homemade dumplings or egg noodles.

Build a rudimentary smokehouse.

A smokehouse is a valid option but do you really want to have something that attracts people's attention from MILES???? That may or may not be a huge security risk.

Effective and Efficient, very cool.

LOL! Yeah. I downloaded the Army Survival handbook ap to my smart phone, then thought about how rediculous THAT was. So I ordered the book from Amazon. I'm working on a good survival library now.

I've run into the same situation. I know you can download full books to a kindle and they have solar powered chargers for them. Might be a good option with limited space and weight. However you still have the possibility of breaking it and being screwed.

In a different thread I posted a solar oven, make a sheet metal box that's painted black inside and out (high temp paint) clear glass lid that just sits on it like a table top. Oven racks and ur done

What do you feed the fish?

I replied to that post in the other thread about what kind of paint to use. I guess here is a more appropriate place. Will the high-temp paint give the meat any foul odors? In my other post I mentioned latex, but yeah, that probably won't hold up too well to 350 degrees.
