I've shot off a cheap tripod with few issues. Usually works just fine.

I've only used more expensive tripods, say around $200 and up. I got a very sturdy $200 tripod for free several years ago. I still have it, and I'm using a new NF carbon fiber tripod.

Look for a good used one.

What's the "cheap" tripod you used. My wife has a nicer tripod for her camera stuff and I just fashioned up a diy pig saddle with a brace and foam. Holds the rifle fine, but those lower legs are flexing. Would probably snap with the first trigger pull.

Might want to check Goodwill you never know you might stumble across a good quality one there.
