I know building the 458 socom uses same mags, lower. I know the upper has to be widened so that means different upper, barrel and bolt carrier? Am I right on that?

Is it better in short barrel or long? 10.5 or 16 or 18?

I think 10 rounds of .458 socom fits in a standard 30 rd ar mag. Wilson combat enlarges the ejection port and uses a Wilson combat spec buffer, but I also think a .223 bolt can be used and of course a .458 socom barrel.

.458 SOCOM is a rebated round, it uses a 7.62x39 BCG

Build it with a barrel 16 inches or greater. I built a 10.5 in .50 Beowulf, and it whites out my scope bad when you shoot it. I would go 16 if I do it again.

Sounds good. 16 inch barrel uses the same bcg and mag and lower. So I need an upper that has the widened ejection port and of course 458 socom barrel.
