Nah I'm not a club type of guy. But I may join a veterans MSC if it is a good one. The problem is if they do parades and such or something like that I am riding a air cooled engine which could be bad.

I'm guessing he meant a motorcycle safety course. They are worth their weight in gold for new/inexperienced/nervous riders.

Also, I'm not a Harley guy but that's a sharp one you got, congrats!

Too much Harley hate from you young Jedi. And I seriously hope not. Cruisers are designed to cruise and not do stupid shyt like I did on my rice burner.

I like anything that is 2 wheels. I personally have no interest in Harleys but my hatred for many of their riders comes from years of sharing the roads with them.

I ride with Harleys all the time, went out a month ago with 7 of them and me on my Yamaha.

It's the guys riding 2 wide 10 mph under the speed limit through wolfpen gap that I hate.

They rarely wave back too, just saying

I did the new rider course at Southern Devil HD was excellent and even did my final exam in the rain which was awesome. Walked into the DMV showed my certificate and walked out with a MC endorsement on my license.
Been riding for about 3 1/2 months and did the American Legion Riders Patriot ride yesterday at Atlanta HD. Was a little nerve racking to begin with starting out 2 by 2 but once everything got spaced out it was Great !!! Even had Douglas County Police Escort which was really cool.

Congrats! I got my first Harley back in September last year....An 04 softail standard. Very plain bike, but I fell in love with it. Had an 05 FZ1 and an 04 FJR at the time. I know EXACTLY what you are saying about the sound, the pull, the vibration....It sucks you in...Bought my second one in February this year...07 CVO Springer Screamin Eagle....It's about all I ride lately, the other three just sit.....

Back in the 90s, I used to scratch build custom Harleys, frame up. Always had one on the lift while I rode the completed bike, then sold the rider when the new build was done. Once, I wrapped up a custom build that I rode to Myrtle Beach bike week right off the lift and got pulled over 3 times by LEO just so they can look at the bike.
I sure do miss being on 2 wheels. I had too many friends get wiped across the pavement right about the time my daughter was born (she's about to turn 14 now), back then I decided that I'd had my fun and it was time to hang it up.

Some advice about your evo softail: Just like in the military you take care of your feet, on that bike, take care of your butt. Invest in a really good seat because the softail geometry puts a lot of strain on your arse and lower back. It will be money well spent to have a good seat. Unless all you do is barhop, then the Badlander will be fine.

Yeah brother I don't do long rides. At least not yet anyways. I will just have to see how things progress with this new addiction as to what I need to get. It may be a month before I feel confident enough to dare the roads around here. Even then It will be back roads in the country. Pavement of course but no busy roads.

You take it at a pace that YOU are comfortable with. Good friends will ride at your pace....
