Looking at Toyota and GMC medium trucks with the turbos, anyone have experience with these ? The Toyota has a good rating, not sure on the GMC. The Tacoma is 2.4L and Canyon is the 2.7L. There are some 2023 Tacoma's out there.

They did this in the 80s. Didn't work out too well. I figure the same today. Stick with the ole tried and true. The new stuff seems to have real quality control issues. Find yourself a good older truck and drive it. Far fewer headaches and a better investment

If you get one I would get in the habit of changing the oil every 3500 miles. Use a good oil and oil filter. From what I understand dirty oil is what kills the turbos.
And if you're changing your own oil, fill the new filter up with oil before you install it. It's so the turbo doesn't run without oil when you first crank it up after change.

If you struggle with upkeep and maintenance then you’d better think twice. Modern turbo engines with phasers dont fair well if ignored. And if you’re ignorant/gullible enough to rely on the oil change light, you’ll end up meeting uncle RODney before you’ve made your last payment.
