Exactly, wide and deep enough that the eye functions as the rear sight. Incidentally, 80 rds yesterday at 3 to 10 yards was a steel ringing festival."Rear sight opened and deepened."
I wish more pistols had rear sights with extremely wide notches-- idealized for quick shooting at 10 meters
not slow bull's-eye target shooting from 25 and 50 meters.

I am loving this project . But up to right now not so much in the front sight. I was just assuming you would mount some type of low pro blade sight or a brass shotgun bead. But don't get me wrong, it's still a very cool retro project.Ya must be young. It's called a grip adapter....a dinosaurian method for improving gun grip in the dim times before Amazon! They had shoes for triggers then too and the finest replacement front sight available was the gold patridge blade or real ivory bead.
Again...diggin everything but the front sight. And on something as custom as this I would not be able to resist bobbing that hammer.Grips done. Just need the sight and a bit of touch up blueing. Rain all week, perfect for rust blueing.
