I have few persimmon trees near some of my regular hunting spots but every year they seem to drop tons of green persimmons and I see very few that actually ripen. What's up with that? Anyone have any ideas or have you seen this?

Wow. Way more complex than I would have guessed. Thanks for the informative link. The reason persimmons fall from the tree before they ripen is the result of parthenocarpy, which a fascinating botanical phenomenon.

Why not just a plant a tree (or a dozen) and do it legally? The library near me has a persimmon tree. I always pick up the ripe fruit and " relocate" them by one of my stands.
Don't know it would get pollinated and the woods are very deep. Never hunt over fresh fruit. Why not just a plant a tree (or a dozen) and do it legally?
There isn't a persimmon tree in georgia that won't get pollinated (assuming we are talking about common native persimmons and not japanese) I promise you.Don't know it would get pollinated and the woods are very deep. Never hunt over fresh fruit.
