Remove rust from magazine

I have a Rem Model 4 in 7mm Express that I inherited, spent some time in a basement before it was located. Rifle has slayed tons of deer and other game out west. Excellent old Japanese Tasco 3x12 on top.

Rifle had picked up a bunch of junk, almost all just freckling except the magazine and a spot on the rings. Mag is a block of rust, might be an aftermarket.

Soaked the last 2 weeks in motor oil, what next?

Sure it will take work but you have it to work on, and one to get started shooting with if you get another.

You could try to soda blast it or glass bead blast it should take it down to bare metal without damaging parts
