I can save the taxpayers the cost of this trip.

Just don't report violent crime.

News Week December 24, 2012 page 12 The Five Most Innovative Mayors in America Mayor Michael Bloomberg is acknowledged for Public Safety.

New York City crime has plummeted to lowest levels on record. All accomplished with a do more with less approach with a smaller police force that has put 30% less criminals in prison. News Week states there is no debate that New York City's crime decline has outpaced the rest of the nation. In 2011 NYC had the lowest murder rate since the 1960.

Amazingly, in a city of 8 million+ on November 26th NYC experienced no (REPORTED) violent crime in 24 hours.

It sounds almost too good to be true for a city of over 8 million! Doesn't it? Perhaps so...

From the FBI crime stats web site: FBI 2011 annual crime reporting figures were submitted voluntarily by law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

It would be hard for a man of low moral integrity to pass by.

Ask chained to hospital bed and admitted to a mental ward NYC police officer Adrian Schoolcraft what he thinks of the reported "LOW CRIME" rate:

Sorry I couldn't make it past a couple of paragraphs without commenting point by point from the article.

(1) His program is a state initiative as opposed to the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods or Project Ceasefire as it is called in the Southern District of Georgia. The initiative targets convicted
felons possessing firearms, bullets or explosives and imposes stiff prison terms in a move to remove those items from communities.

Seems like it would be a lot easier to get safe neighborhoods by removing the felons??????

(2) Heap, whose initial efforts paralleled the city’s, said she had envisioned the initiative for about 18 months, but she said the time was delayed by changes in the Savannah-Chatham police department after the retirement of former Chief Willie Lovett.

Retirement? The SOB is serving a 7 1/2 year sentence in federal prison for corruption. Yes he's drawing a pension while in prison but hardly what I'd call retired.

(3) As part of the program, “social service types” will work to offer potential offenders a way out, but that if they refuse to cooperate “law enforcement is going after them as a group,” Lumpkin said.

Squeal or go to jail? Havent they tried this in the ghetto before? If I remember correctly this was responded to by the ghetto leaders with a "Snitches get stitches" campaign :tape:

(4) But the effort will require citizens to support the effort with their “eyes and ears ... because law enforcement can’t be everywhere all the time.”

Yeah this historically works out great for witnesses in the ghetto where all the accused "associates" are still walking the street.:hat::grouphug:

(5) These groups, which make up less than one half of 1 percent of a city’s population, account for up to 75 percent of violent crime, he said. “In Savannah, we’re talking some 300 people in not more than 15 groups,” he said.

Groups, I don't believe they actually used the term groups, Because of course there is no gang problem in Savannah.:grouphug:

(6) Kennedy’s violence-reduction model focuses on these known offenders who are sources of most crime, requiring them to meet with police, city and community leaders and offering them education and employment assistance as an alternative to violence.
If they refuse to cooperate, police will come down hard on any illegal activities in which they or their associates are involved.

 Let me know how this works out for you :censored:, it seems being required to meet with the police (parole or probation officer) has probably already been tried. I seriously doubt any of these thugs have the fundamentals, social skills or work ethic to get much of an education and I highly doubt they want to work for "The Man".

Oh well, Throw some more taxpayer money at it and go on a New York Vacation.

Savannah is a cesspool that is disguised by an elitist set that thinks it's charming and quaint and pays top dollar to live downtown where most of the crime occurs. I moved here from west GA when I was 8 so I have seen it firsthand for most of my life. I am 42 now and chose to move out of the city over 2 years ago. It is too dangerous and the problems are sugar coated in an irresponsible way by the powers that be. I won't turn this into a racist rant but the facts are that one group is overwhelmingly more active in most of the violent crimes in this city. The police force is currently short 60 officers according to them and I feel they will begin throwing bodies at the problem and end up doing more harm than good. As BHJ mentions, I seriously doubt any of these thugs have the fundamentals, social skills or work ethic to get much of an education and I highly doubt they want to work for 'The Man'." This pretty much sums it up. So most of the middle class moves out to the surrounding cities and counties and the inner city population gets more and more disparate breeding more contempt from the "have-nots." I choose not to be involved. I will never again live in the city limits of Savannah. More cops, more money, better education, and more social programs are not the answer. The only thing that can change this city or this country for that matter, is to embrace the idea of personal responsibility that seems to have disappeared. God help us all.

Hah! I didn't know that the Chief of police was doing time nor do a fair amount of readers I'm sure. Perhaps that may clue one in on why the amount of crime exist. It appears to start from the top LEO. Strange but oddly compelling.

Group activities are so much nicer than having gang activities.
