Semi auto or O/U ?

I have heard good things about Stoeger semi autos particularly the M3ks.

They are part of the Beretta Group (incl Benelli) and are fully licensed Benelli M1 clones if my recollection is correct. They are made in Turkey vs Italy/US which accounts for the price difference. The M1 super 90 is a great shotgun. I would probably buy the M3K if I was in the market and my budget didn’t reach for a Benelli.

I'm not into shotguns and I've been thinking about getting one. I want it for all around functionality ( clay, bird etc.). Looking for a 12 ga. but open to a 20 ga. not worried about recoil.... As for money anywhere from 1200- 2500 depending on the shotgun. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance....
Get a 12 guage more ammo choice better priced ammo just better all way around, nothing you can do with a 20 guage that you cant do with a 12, berreta or benell, or one of best shotgun i have shot is a G FORCE ARMS REFUGE, people down g force it made in turkey but it jam up shotgun dependable and price cheap never like most cheap shotguns but this is exception beautiful shotgun and shoots great, shot several 25 rounds on skeet course it just good, i got safe full high dollar guns, this gun shoot with any and look good. Smooth trigger beautiful walnut burnt bronze barrel and action, all less than 500 dollars, all the guys at range kid me about my refuge cheap shotgun but couple done bought them one, cheapest gun i own love my refuge, shot about 10 cases ammo so far NP not any problems i remember, first cheap shotgun i ever bragged on i think,

I don't believe there is such a thing as a "do it all" when it comes to shotguns. That being said I'm an O/U fanatic, but I know the limitations. I have autos as well for the occasions an O/U is not efficient (mainly duck/turkey hunting). A Beretta 391 with a 28" barrel is probably the best middle ground that I could recommend. They also happen to be one of, if not the best autos ever made.

Also, I'm a 28ga diehard now. I ended duck season with my 28ga SBE3. I shoot a Caesar Guerini Magnus in 28ga with 32" barrels for clays and dove. I told the wife the SBE was for our daughter so I could get away with it.....

how important is barrel length on an O/U? Recommendations?
Longer is in fashion right now but it’s all personal preference. Whatever swings and balances best in your hand will work just fine. Shorter barrels will be quicker and whippier, longer barrels will be slower but smoother. I like 30” for an all around gun.
