Shotguns still suck for Self Defense.

00 buck is like 9 shots of .38 with every trigger pull.

I remember watching a show about a trauma center a while back. Dr pops an X-ray film on the light board and sees a whole lot of projectiles all over the torso.... He literally said “damn. They said gunshot, they didn’t say shotgun. Call the morgue.”
I've read several accounts from ER docs/trauma surgeons to the effect that most people survive pistol wounds, some people survive being shot with a rifle, and nearly 100% shot by a shotgun with buckshot or a slug don't make it (birdshot is for birds...seriously people). The wound pattern is devastating.

Shotguns have rained hell on many enemy combatants. I've known quite a few Army and Marines who served in Vietnam and many of them carried shotguns. Not to mention all the guys who utilized them in WW1, WW2 and Korea. They were awful in the trenches to whoever was on the receiving end.

There are plenty of examples where shotguns have been utilized with great effectiveness in combat. I would fairly confident with one in most situations, and given their effective range. But I have been using shotguns all my life.
