Shotguns with "tactical" buckshot, different barrel lengths and options

One hundred and forty posts and no one has mentioned that just the sound of a pump shotgun being racked will scare x number of bad guys away?
I am disappoint....

Sounds gives your position away and as unsafe as it may be, my SG sits locked + loaded.

I could just get a double barrel and put 2 through the roof.

I guess we could list reliability issues with both.
I think that might result in the shotguns favor unless we added semi auto shotguns to the mix. But ive had more chamber based issues with my ARs than my shotgun.
Probably because you can put so many more rounds through them. More rounds fired = more malfunctions.

True but i do not shoot either as much as my pistol and percentage wise Id say my pistol would probably win and I would still pick up the SG first. I'll take my chances that the first round will go boom and the second will chamber fine. I dont expect to have to use the second anyway.

I don’t expect to use more than a mag when I edc but I carry one mag extra sometimes 2 depending on my location. I sometimes get gripe from my girl about carrying a knife and a gun but I’d rather be prepared then assume.

The primary malfunction that I see on pump shotguns (other than the Mossberg 500) is user error, like short stroking.

On semi-auto shotgun, the primary causes of malfunctions that I see are due to ammo (underpowered for the particular gun), lack of maintenance, and lack of lube.

In AR’s, I see a variety of issues.
1. gun is a cheap POS and isn’t gonna run right unless it’s rebuilt
2. gun isn’t put together correctly (usually goes hand-in-hand with #1)
3. Lack of maintenance and/or lube
4. Gun is an otherwise solid gun, but the user did one or more ill-advised “upgrades” to make it “shoot better”. He found out about said upgrades on a gun forum or YouTube.
5. Bad magazines. I honestly don’t see this nearly as much as I used to. Mags like the Magpul PMags are so cheap that most folks run them, which has cured most of the magazine-related issues that I used to see regularly.
6. Bad ammo. Usually this means steel-cased Russian crap.
