It's not slang; it's just wrong. It's not much different than calling a Glock 21 a rifle. Or a Ford F150 a car. Slang? Nope...just wrong. Bullet taco, now that's slang!

Yes, a clip is a form of ammunition feeding device .... known colloquially as a magazine, clip, etc ... and was known as such for many, many years just like soda, pop, etc in different areas of the country. This is still acceptable nomenclature in many parts of the world and even this country .... The term is still used interchangeably by many gun manufacturers so if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me to stop chastising people about it from a soap box.

It is only "acceptable nomenclature" because idiots keep referring to "magazines" as "clips", thus a social norm to sound stupid is forming. You sound like Nancy Pelosi, just sayin'!

If you are having a hard time spitting out the word "magazine", maybe it would be easier for you to say "mag". It has the same amount of syllables as "clip" and it is correct term to use when talking about a magazine fed firearm.
