That is correct, as long as they aren't illegal in the destination state.
We had to validate this for our CMP range invasions too.

A person who possesses, obtains, receives, sells, or uses a short-barreled rifle or a short-barreled shotgun in violation of federal law is guilty of a Class C felony.
As long as you are GTG federally you are GTG in AL.
